Thread: Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition):: General:: First time Descent - Lieutenants?

Hello

Just recently picked this game up. Will be mainly playing 2 player with my girlfriend (1 OL + 2 heroes).

I noticed in the box there are Lieutenants as tokens. At my FLGS I saw you could buy minis to replace them and that the minis come with a stack of cards.

Question is: Apart from the miniature - does it add more complexity/rules/options to the game? or is it just aesthetics?

If it does add a lot to the gameplay, Is there a specific order I should purchase them in? Buy them progressively?

Which one should we start with (if any)?
