and that is entirely unacceptable. The play testing they must have done to seriously allow an entire monster group to unavoidably be slaughtered before overlord even starts is really ridiculous. The quest it happened in this time was from labyrinth of ruin, it was called barrow something and it had ettins throwing boulders at heroes. The game forces you to put the starting monster group on the same tile the heroes start right next to. In this set up I had gone with harpies to be quick and powerful against logan the treasure hunter.
The heroes before i can do anything, stamina move and attack, each one, and are all able to kill my harpies before I can even get a single turn. My harpies don't reinforce so they are gone for good and of course i lose the encounter, and end up losing the entire quest because of it. Trip wire, wasn't in my hand, either.
So my big question is what slack jawed idiot play tested this and didn't realize that if they forced you to put all your monsters on the tile next to where the heroes start, that the entire group could be killed. How hard is this to figure out? Are they so scared of the over lord being able to group up their monsters that they'd rather you just out right lose them and not have them at all?
I know some people will say "Just get the punisher set" by why is it that every game as overlord I always need punisher cards, and have to hope they land in my hand because the play testers or designers are too stupid to notice this stuff?
Like this is so stupid and head scratchingly awful that I actually want to write the author of this quest, and ask them why in the world they thought that this was ever a good idea. can someone please give me an email adress that I can ask this question at?
