Thread: Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition):: General:: Took the plunge, looking for Scenario/Campaign Recommendations

After a couple years of scrimping and saving, I made my final payment on my student loans yesterday.

As a reward for myself, I took the money I had left and bought every Descent expansion, two lieutenant packs (they were on sale), and two sets of extra dice (I already had the core set and the conversion pack with all the 1st Ed stuff).

So, assuming I'm not crushed under the metric ton of plastic I just ordered, I wondering if any of you seasoned players have recommendations for a starting point.

I've played through the Core Set Intro Encounter (the one with the escaping goblins) about five times, and I think I've done Fat Goblin twice, and maybe one other scenario. I'm honestly not looking forward to replaying those; I'm hoping I can just jump into Shadow of Nerekhall with some new players (since those are the lieutenant figs I bought).

But that having been said, my primary opponent will likely be my wife, and she's much more of a euro-lady than an ameritrash-boy. So I want to make sure the initial scenarios I play with her are the cream of the crop (balanced and interesting), so she doesn't get turned off by the game.

So, my question to you:

* What single scenario(s) would you recommend as great one-shot board game experience?

* What campaign would you recommend to a first-time player?

Thanks!
