Hi,

I would like to hear your opinion on the matter of pursueing hero knock-out.

So the game is based around HP, armor and damage management in its core mechanics. Thus one would intuitively try to maximize all factors related to that core mechanic.
However, after playing some of D2 (played a lot D1 RtL before) I am a bit baffled. To me it currently seems that ignoring heroes is actually often times the best course of action.

Instead of knocking down a hero, which essentially translates a lot of fighting work into the mere result of taking away 1 action from the heroes (if played efficiently), it seems to be much more worthwhile to focus all energy on just throwing them around, blocking them or otherwise slowing them down.

For that reason I really do not see a point in favoring effects like poison over effects that stall hero movement / progression. If killing a hero is the equivalent of stealing 1 of their actions, every card / effect that steals 1 action is as strong as the combined effort of killing a hero. I find this rather surprising.

E.g. playing a trap that forces the hero to stop movement and lose his action is basically as strong as knocking down a hero.

How do you approach that? When do you think it makes sense to knock heroes down?
