I'm looking forward to the release of Road to Legend, which means I pulled out my entire collection of Descent (basically everything made for the game). I've struggled with how best to organize it so that we can play as easily as possible given that the app says it will mix in parts from all expansions. This means that it will request tiles by number and cards by name.
So, here's what I've done:
Sort tiles by number, bagging them in gallon zip lock bags in groups of 10 (ie 1-9, 10-19, 20-19, etc.) then putting the bags in order in a larger box.
Alphabetize the Monster cards, Lieutenant/Agent cards, and Item cards. Man, there are a LOT of item cards to alphabetize.
The hardest thing was figuring out what to do with my huge collection of miniatures. With so many monster types, several with two different sculpts, figuring out which is which quickly can be a challenge.
I opted to put each monster group in its own quart zip lock bag and write its name boldly on the bag. Then I put all the Monsters' bags whose name starts A-C (for example) in one larger gallon zip lock and labeled that with the starting letters (A-C in my example). Then the big bags go alphabetically in a large cardboard box (completely filling it!)
Then when I need to pull a certain monster, I can pull the card alphabetically (easy) and then dig into the zip lock bags, pull out the right letter group, then the right bag for the miniatures.
I know I'm probably overthinking this whole thing, but if the app keeps sections of the map secret and then reveals then as we go (along with new monsters), I don't want to have to take 10 minutes each time just hunting for components.
If you've got your collections all organized already, you should be set, but for those of us that hadn't, it's time!
Any better suggestions for methods of organization for these elements that the app is going to require on the fly?
