Hi everyone,

Well, I've never painted before and I've been staring at my cream and red Descent pieces for a while....So I started painting and now I need somewhere to put them with some rough notes on colours and what I did. I got a lot of ideas from this place so thought if this gives just a couple of people some ideas, all the better....sooooo

Flesh Moulders:

Primed in Black
Ratskin Flesh washed in Reikland fleshshade
Naggaroth Night/Caledor Sky for the underclothes
Celestra Grey washed in Drakenhof Nightshade/WV-88 washed in Agrax Earthshade for the coats.
Hair and Magic streams were Khorne Red and Caledor Sky touched up with ceramic white.

Carrion Drakes:

Based in Caledor Sky and Jokaero Orange
Edged in Mechanicus Grey and Naggaroth Night
Belly was in Zandri Dust.

Made my first major mistake with these. Rather than just washing the areas I wanted shaded, I did everything and you can see how the underbelly has been smeared dirtied in a way I didn't want. Leaned now that a wash isn't just a blunt instrument.

Goblin Archers:

Skin was Death World Forest
Boots and armour in Zandri Dust
Cloth in Celestra Grey and Khorne Red
Bow in Mournfang Brown
Touched in lead belcher and Ceramic White
Washed in Agrax Earthshade..

Probably my favourite pieces to date. I think the finish is good and I was chuffed with my detailing considering these were like the 4th models I'd painted....

Barghasts:

Mournfang Brown fur
Ceramic White bone
Bugman's Glow washed with Reikland fleshshade for the exposed skin.
Khorne Red and Kantor Blue for the mane over a ceramic White base, drybrushed with Averland Sunset and then rebrushed with the base colour again.
Washed in agrax earthshade, reikland flesh, and Drakenhof Night on their respective colours.

First effort at drybrushing. Lots of conours to work with so the process was pretty easy. Though they don't really bear up under close scrutiny, there's enough of a transition to look OK at a glance.

Ettins:

Khorne Red and Kantor Blue colour scheme again (This was early on and I barely had any paints at that point)
Bugman's glow skin washed in Reikland fleshshade
Touched in Ceramic white, Lead Belcher, and Retribution Armour. Mournfang Brown for the Club.
Washed non skin in agrax earthshade

I thought about Going back and tring to do something with the hair, but in the end decided black would suffice. These were only the second models I painted, so I was reasonably impressed with the detailing here. Looks very lumpy now....

Zombies:

Rakarth Flesh Skin
Mournfang Brown Trousers
Caliban Green/Naggaroth Night Coats
All liberally washed in Agrax Earthshade

Bit of a boring paint. Might have to revisit the colours as the green and purple have merged after the dark wash....

Cave Spiders:

Mournfang Brown bodies
Imperial Primer, Cereamic White detailing
Khorne Red and Averland Sunset Colour Scheme
Washed in Agrax Earthshade

First models I ever painted! Was quite chuffed with myself at the time for the idea of the spots, then went a bit overboard with the dots of colour. Then went overboard with the wash too. Still - they don't look awful

First Shadow Dragon:

Celestra grey Basecoat (4 very thin coats)
Bugmans's glow inner mouth and Ratskin Flesh Tongue
Zandri Dust Underwing
Ceramic White detailing with a Caledor sky coat over the top.
Kantor Blue, Caledor Sky, Mechanicus Grey dry-brush transition into the Celestra Grey.
Retribution armour iris and a Caliban Green pupil.

First attempt at a blend and it took me probably two weeks to stop trying to read about how to do it and just try. It's quite ugly close up, and I need to work out how I want to add shading to the very large areas without getting a dirty, grimy finish (Tried one of the legs and had to repaint it). But for now it's ok for the tabletop.

So that's where we are - I'll be starting on the other Shadow Dragon (based in Mephiston Red) tomorrow and hopefully not ruining it. I'll be using this as my own personal colour chart reminder of what I did.
