Thread: Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition):: General:: Hirst Arts tiles - redundant or time for some creativity?

I made the 1e base game tile set from Hirst Arts and my group loved them - really brought the otherwise flat tiles in first edition alive.

Second edition has some great new tiles but is anyone else getting the itch to make some custom 3D stuff?

I've been thinking about outdoor tiles using plain 1" tiles that are based up carefully to look like soil/grass/stones (same way as miniature basing) but using the gap in the tiles beneath to anchor the grid structure that movement etc relies on.

I've also been thinking about creating buildings with lift-off segments to reveal the grid inside - but allowing some dead space around the outside of the grid so that the monsters who don't fit within spaces aren't up against the interior walls.

Looking through the tiles - they can all be recreated with a little artistic license. Has anyone else found their creative juices starting to flow?
