I have come across abasiclaly new (played once) copy of Descent 2nd ed with Heir to Blood Campaign for $39USD (60aud)I had NEVER looked into this game before yesterday, I own Ruenbound and Rune Age and enjoy the universe, but I picked this up for a mate and said WOW when i saw the box. My mate said if I want it I can keep it (I paid the other guy, so its already mine legally lol)
I do not own a Dungeon Crawler (unless you count Hero Quest)and after watching alot of videos I feel like im sold.
I love Star Wars (like love love), but IA for some reason doesnt intrest me, now Rebellion, Im planning to pick that up next month for my birthday.
One thing to consider is I dont have alot of spare money atm due Corona closing down my field (Hospitality), so I don't have any interest in just collecting games I wont play. I do not have a shelf of shame, and dont plan too.
The things holding me back are
1.Keep hearing the game is more of a race than a Dungeon Crawl.
2. No support anymore so expansion are hard to find or expensive.
3. Everyone keeps singing the priases of the app, but it doesnt seem to contain that many campaigns or scenarios?
4. If I never find or never buy an expansion, is it still worth it.
5. Is the game as archaic and clunky as some others seem to think?
6. Cant I find something as good or better than this for that price ($39 usd seems a bargain)
7. Playing the app campaigns solo will completely spoil future runs with my Dad (my main gaming partner).
8. Is the Overlord mode as bad as people seem to think? I keep seeing "I will never play with Overlord again, app is so much better".I think the competitive aspect appeals to me just as much as the solo one.
9. The reason I never looked into Imperial Assault was the buttload of expansions, would I be silly buying this if I passed on IA (usually costs alot more just for that core alone tho).
10. Has anyone found a good way to "fix" the issues with descent that IA has fixed?
11. Has anyone figured out a way to make the overlord mode work Hero>Overlord>Hero>overlord, like the app.. Instead of Hero>Hero>hero>hero>overlord>

PS: I did create another thread earlier about the conversion kit and using it for my runebound hero minatures, still on the fence about that.
