Hi my fellow nerds. If you don't like house rules reading further will just make you cranky. Our group tried out house rules regarding killing heros in our latest campaign. The campaign was played with four heros so we don't know how they would work with smaller groups. Check them out and tell us what you think or what you would tweek.
1. If a hero is knocked out 5 times in any one quest that hero dies.
2. Any shop items, starting equipment or seach cards may be picked up by other heros by moving through the space where the hero died (no action required)These may be sold during the next shop phase.
3. After a quest finishes, at the beginning of the campaign phase the group recruits a new hero.
4.If the hero dies:
-: During act 1 the new hero starts with xp equal to half the quests completed rounded down.
-: During the interlude the new hero starts with xp equal to half the quests completed rounded up.
-: During act 2 the new hero starts with xp equal to half the completed quests rounded up plus one.
5. To compensate for the disadvantage to the players this causes, the OL may never reduce his deck during the campaign phase.
The campaign saw three deaths and produced some tense encounters when a hero was on four KOs. We enjoyed the added pressure this put on the heros and it changed they way the heros and our OL played when a hero was on a few kos. It also saw more thought put in to when and if to stand up or revive a hero. The OL won the campaign but thats nothing new in our campaigns so far.
