Hello folks!I got into D2e pretty recently and made a one shot purchase (core set + Nerekhall) planning not to get any further expansion.
As the lieutenants and the familiar came into the adventure I realized that moving a token, which represents an actual mini, is not that immersive at all, so I began using other minis, like the ones you see in the pic. I’m aware, they are not looking exactly like the lieutenants, I just took some common traits (mustache, helm, skin color, etc.) and paired them with the minis I had on hand, with those featuring a somewhat higher level of “resemblance” 😉
Purists may not like it. I didn’t like it either at first (despite my love for the SW franchise) mostly because they didn’t fit in well with D2e art, style, mini size and proportions, you name it... but! But as I began moving an actual mini and got into the crawling experience I forgot I was moving Jabba, it was actually Splig roaming the tiles, and the experience somehow got immediately better with an actual mini!
Now, for those of you who don’t own the lieutenant packs, do you use any alternative budget version like I do?
Pictures anyone?
Or am I the only one to not have purchased those packs?
(I know they don’t just add the mini)
The ones in the pic are called “rollinz”, they are sort of promo SW minis you get at a local Italian supermarket, you get one every 15€ you spend and I find them really cute!
Used to use Boba Fett as my bad*** mini during some intense RPG sessions, along with other SW rollinz, and despite the Scandinavian setting of the adventure, the sci-fi flavor of the minis didn’t ruin the fantasy experience.
What do you think?
What do you use?
