OK, I decided to figure out how many monsters I no longer needed from my first edition collection (assuming I'm only playing 2nd edition from now on). I figured I would share this list because it turns out if somebody collected extra monsters from two different first-edition owners, and of course bought the conversion kit, they would have quite a lot more variety in their second edition games.If you get the leftovers from a single person (assuming they had the whole first edition set), you would have enough minis for Bane Spider (actually twice as many as you needed), Beastman, Kobold, Blood Ape, and only one short for Skeleton Archer.
If you collected extras from two users, you would have more than enough for all of the above, plus: Dark Priest, Deep Elf, Ferrox, Hellhound, Razorwing, Sorcerer, Lava Beetle, Manticore, Troll, Ice Wyrm, Ogre, and Golem. In most cases for the larger minis you'd end up with two white versions, where you really want a red and a white, but obviously there are ways to correct that (e.g. painting them).
Each original owner only has one extra Shade, and you need 5 total, so that would be hard to collect enough of. There are no extras for Crypt Dragon, Demon Lord, Wendigo, Medusa, Naga, and Chaos Beast.
I'm willing to sell my leftovers to an interested party (not sure how to advertise that except right here in this post) but am curious as to how much I should charge. I don't really need them, however I'd like to recoup some of my investment in the 1st edition to make up for buying the second edition
If we figured out a good way to do this sort of exchange, many players who are new to the second edition could really take advantage of this to build up their monster collections.
