Hi to my fellow Aussies (and everyone else),I've seen a few threads on sleeving oversized FFG cards, and how difficult it is to find a sleeving solution in OZ.
Yes, it's possible to order sleeves from the US to suit Talisman and Descent Character cards, but I've found the postage to be prohibitive (being roughly four times the cost of the ordered item.
My craft-oriented wife has put me on to an Australian supplier who makes a product that will not only sleeve Talisman and Descent cards, but also Arkham Horror Character/Old Ones cards.
What is this product? Flapside-sealed cellophane bags, measuring 130 mm x 210 mm.
Where can I get them from? packitin at www.packitin.com (which takes you to their eBay store).
How much do they cost? packitin are selling 100 bags for $11.00 (+ $3.00 postage), or 1,000 bags for $77.00 (+ $12.00 postage).
Now, I've done a bit of research regarding the price, and this is a pretty darn good bang for your buck - if anyone can find a better price, please let me know!
I placed an order for 2 x 100 bags, which exactly covers all cards for Talisman (up to, but not including City expansion), Descent 2nd edition (including Conversion Kit and Lair of the Wyrm), and Arkham Horror (all expansions to date).
My order was received through Australia Post two days after I placed it (possibly one, as I didn't check my mail the first day after I ordered them...).
130 mm is a perfect fit for the width of all the above cards. To use them for Talisman or Descent, simply trim the bags at approx 105 mm from the base of the bag. To use them for Arkham Horror, trim them at approximately 182 mm from the base. I trimmed these bags with a paper guillotine, five at a time, to get a good, clean edge on them.
I am in no way affiliated with packitin - I just thought I should give credit where credit is due, and let everyone else know about my sleeving solution for these oversized cards.
Cheers,
Nestyr
