So the rules state that in a 2 player game the OL is one player and the other gets 2 heroes. Based on this assumption, how can the heroes really ever win? Here are some observations on our first play through of the campaign:1) The tests are hardly ever passed. With 1 grey and 1 black it is very difficult for a hero to ever pass a test. Last time we played I believe I passed 3 tests total including the 2 I passed during the travel events. Which brings me to the next point..
2) OL cards are a bit too powerful based on the fact they are test based. Hell, there is one card that will instantly knock your hero out if he doesn't pass the test.
3) Enemies in act II instantly get act II damage. I have to raise enough gold and HOPE that the right items come up to buy at the end of quest.
4) Most of, if not all, the quests are won by running and not fighting. We played the frozen spire last time we played and the OL took the elemental. He would attack and turn to air. Move and turn to air. Based on that there was no way for me to even kill the elemental. Sure I could block the door to the exit but he can whittle away with the air. Attack turn to air. During the interlude the only way I one was using my hero ability to run past everything and get out the door.
Anyway, I am really frustrated trying to play as a purely 2 player game using the rules. It seems to me to really enjoy this you would need quite a few house rules or have the hero player play 3 heroes.
So the advice is what to do to make this more enjoyable? As of now it is really near impossible to to win as a hero. The OL isn't enjoying it either. He is just so OP it isn't fun.
Help me out here. I really really want to like this game.
