Hello! I know, same question has been asked many times. But I'm still not sure. Heres my likes and dislikes for each game:

Arkham Horror: It's fun for the 1st hour, but feel repetitive to me. Also they offer you all those places to explore, but you can't explore because you need to focus on the mission. Really too fiddly for me. And I keep forgetting a lot of things. Oops, forgot to roll for retainer, forgot to adjust skills, forgot that this creature got +1 this turn because of... forgot forgot, forgot, aaaargh! Too many things going on. My brain can't keep up. Also feel more like work than a game to me. And it's too loooooooong!

Mansions of Madness: Played only once so not much to say about it except I was really excited to play but it felt a bit meh. Open door, look at card, evade monster, play with puzzle... Maybe it's because you always have to flee the monsters? I don't know. Maybe I find it a bit boring to play a wimpy guy trying to save the world. didn't feel the theme at all.

Return of the heroes: It's bland and long and repetitive. Some nice ideas in there though. But the quests! Oh look, I've got to feed honey to the bear, on the other side of the world. Hey look I've got this quest where I've got to go smile to the king! It's mostly RPGing with badasses in candyland. There's a disconnect between the look of your hero and the quests. Maybe a bit like Conan the Postman? And the unclear rules.

Last night on earth: Again, it's not what I wanted. Run, search, run, search, run, search, run, search, Oh! A gun!, shoot 1 zombie, miss, out of ammo, run, search....

Talisman: I haven't played for over 15 years but I have fond memories of this one. Simple and nasty. And it felt like an adventure. But again, it could be too long.

Dungeon twister: an abstract game disguised as a dungeon Crawler. analysis paralysis guaranteed. Didn't even play one complete game. The rules are fine, but it's a really complex game.

So, still searching for a great adventure game. Not too complex, not too long, with a great atmosphere.
