Thread: Descent: Journeys in the Dark (second edition):: General:: Seems like it could play really well solo

I finally bought this, after years of waffling on it (and previously 1st edition). I wasn't expecting there to be nearly no hidden information, other than the Overlord's hand, and the unique search token. Seems like it would be really well suited for solo play: come up with some simple monster "AI" rules, and shuffle the search tokens to randomize their positions (if a quest needs the unique one).

Not sure what would be done regarding the Overlord cards. I can't decide between leaving them out and increasing the monster group sizes to heroes + 1 (this limits it to 3-hero games), leaving them out and using semi-permanent hero death (no stand up/revive), devising a trigger for drawing the top Overlord card and activating it as soon as it would be legal, or maybe even a combination of these.

I see it's not so much a dungeon crawler, but a tactical skirmish game, and since I've played the hell out of Fire Emblem Awakening, I think I'm okay with that.
