Thread: Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition):: General:: "Balancing" First blood.

So, in our group we have decided to forgo first blood from now on, just giving the heroes 1/2/3 search tokens (+1 if thief present) seeing as the ettin can sit on one and going straight into the first "proper" mission.

This doesn't sit well with me.

I like using first blood to get to grips with new heroes/combinations ect and i also like the idea of both heroes and overlord having a shot at choosing the first mission. Not to mention i like the idea of the heroes having to MAYBE forgo 1 or 2 search tokens to pull that off.

Don't get me wrong i understand the mission isn't supposed to be balanced but i'd like a shot at making it a bit less ignore-able.


Has anyone had any luck or even tried to balance it a bit? I was thinking overlord reinforcements moved to the start of the turn and maybe an extra tile inbetween the entrance to make the heroes work a bit harder to get those first goblins off.

Maybe mauler just needs more health or should get health if goblins escape?

Thoughts?
