After a full campaign of the base game, and half a campaign of LoR, I got tired of spending 20 minutes before and after playing just dealing with all the bags and pieces. I saw a custom insert here: http://www.orderofgamers.com/descent-2nd-edition-foamcore-pl... but knew it wouldn't work for me, because I have LoR, and the conversion kit. The LoR box holds my tiles and my miniatures are held in a custom box (except heroes) so I just needed to make the main box able to hold the books and all the little pieces.I made mine in the same style as the one above, and am indebted to them for making their plans as I would never have thought to hold the pieces with pins while gluing them otherwise, and that made the entire process so simple. It is made with simple foam board. Total cost: $6 US. Total time: 4 hours. First, I made sure to have room on top for all the rule/quest books now and hopefully a few in the future.
The next layer is designed to be one that we can set aside and never look at during the game. The main time killer we had was setting up our characters each time and now there are spots for each of us and all of our stuff, as well as the class cards, with room for future growth in them.
The next layer is the main set of cards and the hero figures we aren't using (they are so small I have no intention of ever painting them. It also holds our xp and money campaign sheet. This box we don't need during the quest but in between it is all right there for us.
The final layer is all of the little bits and pieces we will need during the quest (plus the hero cards we aren't using just because of space and how thick that stack is with the conversion kit. All together, it took set up and take down from 20 minutes each to under five and instead of bags all over we have one tray sitting on the table with us, so we can fit into a smaller playing space as well.
The main problems I had building it is that I messed up on the total size of the top layer and so it is a bit hard to get in and out of the box (hence it being on top) and the hero cards don't lay down properly in some of the spots, though they do fit on top of the hero minis at an angle.
All together I think it turned out pretty well and has room to grow with all the expansions my gaming group is sure to pick up in the future.
