I've done this twice now and am wondering if I am missing something. The overlord player, played by me this time, gets absolutely DEMOLISHED in full epic play. All the heros get 250 gold worth of act 2 items (primarily receiving the best weapons each). On top of being ridiculously strong, they also receive 6 points of skills each.
The overlord gains 8 points worth of cards. This doesn't seem to be comparable to the 1000 gold of weapons the heroes receive.
The monsters are of Act II.
Is there more to it for the OL player?
Both times, encounter 2 included a lieutenant. The one we just finished for example, included Eliza, who had 15 life and defended with a near useless brown and grey die. With maximum block of 5, but more likely 1-3, against fatigue attacks that do 3 automatic damage, or weapons that hit for 8 damage with pierce 3 and only one set of monsters (half of which were destroyed before the OL got his turn), the chance of success was near 0%.
I consider myself, and the people I play with to be pretty competitive and smart, strategic players (no stupid mistakes, and full usage of all abilities etc), but this seemed almost silly.
Anyone else have a similar experience or offer advice?
