So I just completed my first 2 player session as OL, my fiance as the Heroes. I was playing against a Knight and a Runewizard, and we did First Blood, which she won, then she picked Masquerade Ball as our first real quest. It was very one sided! I picked zombies and goblins, while the goblins quickly searched the rooms for the blue tokens, the zombies slowed down the heroes to let the flesh moulders spawn. Lots of damage laid down on the Knight.
Encounter part 2 was even worse! I choose a shadow dragon and goblins, but didn't even get a chance to use the goblins! The spiders were causing a lot of pain, and the lieutenant was running through the doors and closing them behind her. The knight got knocked down as the rune wizard opened the door, and the impossible to hit white shadow dragon was standing there!
I ended up just running for the win, knocking the knight out several more times, and the wizard down once. My fiance decided she couldn't catch up and went for the search... got NOTHING! DOH!
Needless to say, my fiance was disheartened and I may find it difficult to convince her to continue the campaign. Did I screw up a rule, or are the heroes really underpowered at low levels? Is the masquerade ball meant for a later quest, not the first one out of the gate? How do I get her to continue playing after such a one sided defeat? Are shadow dragons overpowered?
