This new version seems to have a lot of things about it that makes it good for the groups I play with - quick learning curve, short playing time etc. BUT, on reading other comments I'm beginning to wonder if it might be a problem that the game seems to be designed very much for campaign type play to get the most out of it.
I play with various group and we rotate games rapidly. While I think the theme would go down really well we might play maybe once a month and with different players. This works well with Heroquest - peeps keep their characters and I might tweak the number of monsters in a quest to take account of who is there and with other games like LNOE or Runewars for instance it's just not an issue. It was for this reason I didn't go for Risk Legacy.
So - how replayable is Descent 2 with the lower level quests?
Are a lot of quests simply unplayable without experienced characters?
TIA
