Hey guys, I'm new to descent and like many am looking for a co-op dungeon crawler game (no dm/gm) that includes persistence in the form of levels/items while playing through multiple scenarios/missions/quests/etc. I haven't purchased this game yet and have been looking for a game that I feel will fit my desires.

Does descent have a playable "campaign" using the existing variants? At a glance, I couldn't tell if the variants were used for the campaign or if it's just used for setting up some dungeon skirmishes for fun. Will the "official" co-op rules be something more suited for what I am looking for? Another game better suited (was looking at myth, but the failures of the initial release are looking grim)?

Please let me know your thoughts

So far I've looked at the D&D Adventure games, gears of war, and just picked up mice and mystics (cant wait to play!).

I was also really interested in super dungeon explore but a GM/overlord type of player is required there too.

Closest thing to what I've found was mice and mystics (bought), wrath of ashardalon with custom campaign to lvl 5 or 10, and pathfinder adventure card game (near perfect for what I was looking for.. but its a card game and the combat seemed very lackluster. its more of a combat system from a macro point of view rather than micro if that makes any sense).

Please let me know what you guys think?
