Thread: Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition):: General:: I don't like RNG objectives; what should I do?

So recently in descent I have been actively avoiding the following missions as much as possible, and trying to convince people not to pick them:

1) Masquerade Ball. The "roll to see if one of the guys you saved was the important guy" victory condition in encounter 1 is annoying. I would prefer if it was just a partial victory based on how many guys you saved rather than a frustrating loss when you actually should have won the game. I also can't stand the attribute tests for the doors by the vampire in Act 2. It's very easy for that to determine the game, just by random chance.

2) Fat Goblin. This scenario is great, except that Splig has to test to interrogate the prisoners. So if he doesn't roll well, he loses by a landslide and you essentially don't even get to play the exciting part of the game.

3) Castle Daerion is also kind of annoying because of the chance to summon defenders, but I it's mitigated enough by the fact that you can hide him in a well-defended corner, so it doesn't really annoy me.

I'm perfectly fine with rolling dice to see how much damage a hero deals, because it's repeated so many times that it averages out. But i feel that attribute tests on the objectives are just TOO random. Should I do something about it?
