Hey folksI've been thinking about the use of the mini campaign quests in the form of rumours. Now I know I've read previous articles about how they favour the heroes and the overlord should not be using them in campaigns.
Really though I guess with a little house rule these quests could be included. If the players stick with a three quest act 1 rule before playing the interlude then if a rumour quest was introduced then this would simply count as one of the quests. For arguments sake the heroes decided to play the fat goblin, then the overlord played a rumour card which the heroes decided to immediately persue. The winner of the rumour quest would be deemed to be the winner of the fat goblin too for all campaign reasons.
I think this would add a lot of variety to the large campaigns. Especially the shadow rule where the act 1 quest become limited after a couple of play throughs. I understand it is strictly not playing by the rules but hey, if the overall experience is better then it's for the good, right.
What are your thoughts on introducing such rules and please comment on experiences you may have?
