Descent Second Edition - Base Set – Shadow Dragons

I wanted a ‘muted’ look to these dragons – they are shadow dragons after all. So I went for a soft turquoise blue and a soft lavender purple. I mixed dark purple and dark blue with bone, and continued mixing in bone to create highlights. I never shaded the models as I didn’t want that sharp contrast you’d normally look for, plus shading can look weird on large flat sections of a bigger model.
For the base I went for a magical mist effect to evoke the power that it’s hard to hit these guys from up close when you are around their feet. Starting with a Death World Forest I mixed in other, thinned down greens and swirled the “cloud”. Then I painted little mite of light, like fireflies or something, with old Citadel Moot Green and Scorpion Green.
I’m fairly satisfied with the results, and happy to have a base that is functionally related to an easy to forget power the creature has.
