So ... looking at the mage classes there's 3 that fall under the same trope of familiar control- Necromancer
- Conjurer
- Geomancer
and unfortunately they all share a number of similar abilities. 8\ i.e. every one of them has a familiar-detonate ability.
However, I kinda think that Necromancer got the short end of the stick here. He has the weakest starting familiars and only 1. Unless I'm missing something?
So ... idunno. I'm all for house-rules, but I can't really see any immediately fix for pushing them apart and making each feel more viable.
One minor notion was allowing necromancer to summon more undead (bake into core ability he gets another after purchasing 1 2xp and 1 3xp). But ... could be broken/scale incorrectly.
A second idea with necromancer was giving the starting weapon an ability to summon a reanimate (after spending stm) IF the attack defeats a monster.
Conjurer seems most unique ... but that uniqueness kinda gets washed out by the other two. 8\
Geomancer honestly just feels like a better necromancer. 8\
So yeah, what's your thoughts?
